Tata’sRover and Jaguar Sales go Up

Global sales of Jaguar Land Rover in December 2011 were at 30,981 vehicles, higher by 45% over December 2010. Jaguar sales for the month were 4,726 nos., higher by 9%, while Land Rover sales were 26,255 nos., higher by 54%. Cumulative sales of Jaguar Land Rover for the fiscal are 216,412 nos., higher by 22%. Cumulative sales of Jaguar are 39,921 nos., lower by 7%, while cumulative sales of Land Rover are 176,491 nos., higher by 31%.

Twin 12.3-inch LCD screens provide information and navigation display. Inputs come from a touch-screen control board piercing the swept center console. Used to control the audio system, climate controls and navigation, the interface features a pop-up touch-screen keyboard for more complex entries. Similar touch-screen surfaces on each door operate the windows, mirrors, seat adjustments and personal entertainment settings.

Mathematics of Planet Earth 2013 Competitions begins this new year

Submission starts in January 2012 and ends on May 15, 2012. Details on the submission will be announced in the “Submit” section. Questions regarding formats or submissions can be directed to competition@mpe2013.org with the subject “MPE2013 Competition”. The submission language is English, but we recommend submitting your module also with explanatory texts in other (local) languages. Please note that you can submit only modules that have been created after January 1st, 2011. Contributions developed before this date can be shared with us to be included in the open source exhibition, but will not participate at the competition.

India declared 2011 as National Mathematical Year

As a tribute to mathematical genius S. Ramanujan, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Monday declared year 2012 as “National Mathematical Year”. Inaugurating the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Ramanujan at the University of Madras, Dr. Singh said: “As a tribute to the great mathematician, our government has decided to declare his birthday, that is December 22, as the National Mathematics Day and the year 2012 as a whole as the National Mathematical Year.

Tata Motors upgrading old Nanos with new starter motor

The installation of the new starter motor, which is a vendor supplied part, began in October this year. Owners of all old Nanos were informed about the exercise, and about 50,000 cars have already been done. There are about 65,000 owners who are yet to visit their dealerships and the company is in continuous contact with them.

The new Samsung mSATA SSDs* will be available in 256, 128 and 64 gigabyte (GB) densities as main storage devices, and also at 32GB for caching. They measure 50.95 x 30 x 3.8 millimeters and weigh a mere eight grams. The new SSDs will be part of the highly popular Samsung PM830 product family that was introduced earlier this year. They make use of Samsung’s advanced 20 nanometer class** NAND flash memory components which incorporate the toggle DDR interface.

He has authored or co-authored more than 80 scientific articles and has been a named inventor on 11 United States patents. In 2008, he was elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Levinson received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington and earned a doctorate in Biochemical Sciences from Princeton University.

Technology that keeps family together

American families have experienced a deluge of technology in the home over the past decade, and much has been made about how screen time is impacting family time. However, according to a new survey commissioned by Microsoft Corp., parents say that technology is playing a positive role in their family relationships. The survey, conducted by Impulse Research, found that 64 percent of U.S. parents aged 22 to 40 who were surveyed report that technology helps bring their family closer together. Relying on technology to stay connected is even more apparent among younger parents (aged 22 to 30), with 74 percent reporting the same.
